Clashes erupted at Zaloora village in Sopore on Sunday after forces launched a cordon-and-search operation.
Senior superintendent of police Sopore Javid Iqbal said after receiving inputs about presence of some militants in the village, army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles, special operations group of police and Central Reserve Police Force cordoned off the area and started door-to-door searches.
As the CASO began, youths took to streets and started pelting stones at forces who retaliated with tear-gas shelling, sparking off clashes that were going on when this report was filed.
