Clashes during Hajin search op

Dozens of people took to streets and threw stones at government forces to prevent them from carrying out a cordon-and-search-operation in Hajin town.

The forces—army, police and CRPF—fired metal pellets and teargas into the protesters at Towheed Abad and ParrayMohalla of Hajin town, injuring five who have been shifted to Srinagar hospitals for treatment.

This was the first CASO in Hajin town after Ramadhan during which the government forces had suspended anti-militancy operations. While a police official said the search operation was launched after specific inputs about the presence of some militants, local residents accused soldiers of damaging vehicles and breaking windowpanes of several houses.
