Clashes erupted between protesters and the security forces after the latter launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) at a village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.
A source said that youths took to streets and pelted theforces with stones as soon as the CASO was launched in Tarigam village.
He said that the forces fired tear gas shells on the youths,triggering further clashes.
An official said the CASO was launched following “specificinputs” about the presence of militants there.
The operation was later called off.
