Clashes broke out on Wednesday against alleged high-handedness of government forces in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Witnesses said that youth took to streets in Palhalan area during a shutdown to protest alleged damage to a mosque by forces on Tuesday.

"Several windowpanes of a mosque were broken by forces during a shutdown yesterday," said a local.

He said police and paramilitary forces used tear gas shells to break up the demonstrations staged by stone-pelting youths today.
