Clubbing polling booths biggest hurdle: Congress

The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee on Sunday said clubbing of polling booths was the biggest hurdle witnessed in the electoral process in the ongoing elections.

In a statement the party spokesperson expressed seriousconcern over the clubbing of polling booths, asserting it has affected theelectoral process, as that many polling booths on single location has createdmess.

   

“The polling booths should have be setup as per thetraditional way of conducting polling, which has not happened this time,” hesaid.

The spokesman added that the election department should havesetup one polling booth at single location rather than establishing 10 boothson single location.

“Congress party believes that this exercise done by theelection department has not augured well in the ongoing elections while havingthe potential to create more chaos among the electorate. It should have beenrectified in the interest of smooth conduct of polls.”

He also emphasized the election department to ensureadequate security arrangements in Shopian and Pulwama district, besidesensuring free and fair elections.

“Congress party witnessed lack of security arrangements inlast two phases of election in south Kashmir and emphasizes the election bodyto put in place all necessary security arrangements during polling in Shopianand Pulwama districts,” the spokesperson added.
