Commissioner SMC Khursheed Ahmed Sanai today took up a meeting to review solid waste management in the summer capital.
In a statement, SMC spokesperson said during the meeting,different components of solid waste management including status of IHHL, CTPT, open defecation free, I.E.C andInformation Communication Technology were reviewed at length.
It was informed that source segregation and door to doorcollection is being taken up in various wards. The Commissioner stressed forupgradation of sweeping machines, dust clearing machines, water sprinklingmachines and hopper vehicles for effective door to door collection of waste. Hedirected for installation of more smart bins as per requirement in the city andprocurement of grass cutters.
Commissioner directed immediate lifting of solid wastegenerated from desilting and cleaning of Municipal drains. He also revieweddevelopment of parks, gardens and open areas in the city.
On constructions he passed on directions to the ChiefEnforcement Officer along with ward officers to ensure that there is propercovering of construction sites in order to avoid pollution .
