Traders and locals in this border town held a peaceful protest on Tuesday, demanding stern punishment to the accused arrested for their role in the communally sensitive video in Jammu.
The protesters carried out a march from Bus Stand Uri to the office of Sub District Magistrate. They raised slogans against the fringe elements who were trying to create communal tension in J&K.
Chairman, Beopar Mandal Uri, Muhammad Shafi said such incidents can trigger communal tension in J&K.
“We request the government that this matter should be investigated thoroughly and those involved should be booked under stringent law,” he said.
A protestor said J&K has always been known for communal harmony, but it seems the enemies of peace want to disturb this peace and brotherhood among different communities.
