Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) President, Er Rasheed, Friday urged the state government to compensate the farmers whose crops were damaged due to inclement weather in the recent weeks.
While touring Kupwara district, Rasheed said, “The farmers in Langate, Kupwara, Handwara and Lolab suffered heavy losses due to floods and hailstorm. The government needs to immediately asses the losses and release adequate compensation to these people.”
He said, “The state government must realize that Kupwara district needs special care and timely funding. The district administration must discharge its duties with keen interest.”
Claiming that schools and hospitals in the district lack adequate staff, the AIP President said, “The government needs to ensure basic amenities to the local populace.”
He also demanded women’s colleges for Langate, Handwara and Lolab and a nursing college at Haril.
