Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) President, Er Rasheed, Friday urged the state government to compensate the farmers whose crops were damaged due to inclement weather in the recent weeks.
While touring Kupwara district, Rasheed said, “The farmersin Langate, Kupwara, Handwara and Lolab suffered heavy losses due to floods andhailstorm. The government needs to immediately asses the losses and release adequatecompensation to these people.”
He said, “The state government must realize that Kupwaradistrict needs special care and timely funding. The district administrationmust discharge its duties with keen interest.”
Claiming that schools and hospitals in the district lackadequate staff, the AIP President said, “The government needs to ensure basicamenities to the local populace.”
He also demanded women’s colleges for Langate, Handwara andLolab and a nursing college at Haril.
