Congress gave BJP a simple walkover in Jammu and Kashmir: Omar Abdullah

Former chief minister and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Thursday lashed out at the Congress party over its approach towards Jammu and Kashmir.

“It says a lot about the Congress party & its approachto J&K. There hasn’t been a single election meeting by its leadership,”Omar said in a tweet.

He said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and theBharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah did not address the electionrallies in the valley but they have not ignored the state either.

“Contrast this with the number of rallies addressed by Modiji & Amit Shah. They may not have come to the valley but they didn’t ignorethe state,” Omar said.

He said that the BJP was simply given a walkover by theCongress in the state.

“The Congress was in with a fighting chance in 4 of the 6seats and in 3 of these the BJP was the main opponent. It’s inexplicable howthe BJP was simply given a walkover as far as the optics of the campaign wereconcerned,” Omar tweeted.

There are six Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir –Baramulla, Jammu, Srinagar, Udhampur, Anantnag and Ladakh.

Two seats in the state will go to polls in the fifth phaseof elections that is on May 6.
