Asking its cadres to reach out to the people and ensure redressal of their grievances, senior Congress leader and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Saturday said the absence of an elected government is a major source of disillusionment for the masses in Jammu and Kashmir state.
Chairing a high-level party meeting, Azad assured that Congress will remain committed to safeguard the secular fabric, unity and harmony in the country, besides defeating the “communal and fascist forces, which are hell bent upon dividing people on the basis of caste or religion”.
The meeting was attended by senior party leaders, who deliberated upon the organizational affairs and activities in Kashmir.
“Congress party is highly concerned about the wellbeing of the people in the country and state. We shall do our utmost to address their (people’s) genuine concerns, both in the Parliament and outside,” Azad said.
He asked the party cadres to reach out to people to ensure redressal of their grievances. “Congress party is the only unifying force in the country and state. The party is capable enough to defeat the divisive and communal forces,” he said.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), President, G A Mir also spoke on the occasion and emphasized upon the leaders and workers to invigorate the party from grass roots.
