Pays tributes to 4 militants slain in Tral gunfight
Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday cautioned people against sectarian crisis in Kashmir, urging the religious preachers and people not to fall prey to conspiracies aimed at dividing people to trigger civil war in Kashmir.
“It is unfortunate and as a true believer we should avoid this. We should together hold firmly the rope of Allah and should be not divided among ourselves,” the Hurriyat spokesman, in a statement quoted Geelani as having said, while addressing telephonically a large gathering of the people mourning the killing of four militants in a gunfight with the government in Tral area of district Pulwama.
“Our youth are laying their lives to end the age-old slavery of their nation and putting a huge responsibility on our shoulders to honour these sacrifices and take the movement to its logical end,” Geelani said, adding that “I pay my heartfelt and sincere tributes to these martyrs including Ashfaq Ahmad Khan. For, these youths are laying their precious lives for a sacred cause and sacrificing their today for our tomorrow.”
He said, “Some people, instead of showing honour and respect for martyrs, are issuing senseless decrees and disrespecting them. They are suffering from frustration and bartering (their conscience) for personal interests. I want to covey them that whoever is killed protecting his wealth is a martyr, and whoever is killed protecting his religion is a martyr, and whoever is killed protecting his life is a martyr, and whoever is killed protecting his family is a martyr.” Our youth are not laying their lives for material gains but to resist slavery.”
"India is using its military might to crush the basic rights of the Kashmiri people. It’s suffering from arrogance of power,” he said.
Urging people to boycott the upcoming elections, Geelani said, “Participations in these elections is tantamount to treason with the blood of martyrs. Indian authorities are misleading world community, portraying people’s participation in elections as a verdict in their favour.”
Referring to the brutal murder and rape of innocent eight-year old Kathua girl, Geelani said, “Both the BJP and the police supported those accused in gruesome incident.”
