Consumers complain of inflated power bills

Consumers from various parts of Kashmir complained they have received inaccurate and inflated power bills, while a large chunk of consumers are awaiting their bills for months.

“The undesirable situation arising from inordinate delay in billing process has given rise to corruption in the Power Development department (PDD),” a local said. “The law-abiding consumers who would otherwise pay the tariff each month are the victims of the situation as they show no inclination to grease the palms of those who act as brokers between PDD and consumers to get the issues settled,” he said.

   

Many senior citizens alleged the PPD field employees were the main beneficiaries of the prevailing crisis.
