‘Counselling centres at district level in offing’

Saying that the Jammu and Kashmir State Commission for Protection of Women and Child Rights (JKSCPWCR) is contemplating to establish counseling centres at district headquarters, Chairperson of the Commission Vasundhara Pathak Masoodi said that the complainants would register their complaints in the centres and subsequently the Commission will  hear the cases at their doorsteps.

Chairing a meeting of officers and officials of the Commission, the Chairperson said that the crime against women and children is a sensitive issue and the Commission is committed to strictly deal with the offences against these two vulnerable sections of the society. She said that the Commission is also planning to evolve  a comprehensive mechanism so that the complaints received in the Commission are attended ineffective manner and brought to the logical conclusion at the earliest.She said that the technical/ trained manpower including Law officers, Para-Legals, Coordinators, Psychologist (clinical) and Research Scholars would be engaged in the Commission, saying that it would go a long way in giving relief to the complainants and help in containing the crime against women and children.
