COVID-19 |41 shops sealed for violating restriction orders at Anantnag

Acting tough against businessmen found violating restriction orders, the authorities on Tuesday sealed at least 41 shops, mostly eateries, garment and footwear shops in southern Kashmir’s Anantnag town.

Accordingto an official, the municipal council authorities and police found 41 shopsopen in the town since yesterday.

   

“Allthese shops operating in violation of the restrictions imposed under section144 CrPc were immediately sealed,” the official said.

Theaction was initiated after the government ordered shopkeepers to close down thebusinesses to prevent spread of Covid-19.

ChairmanMunicipal council Anantnag, Hilal Ahmad Shah said none of the shops sealed weredealing with any essential commodities.

“Thesealed structures include restaurants, eateries, food joints, footwear shops,paint shops,” he said.

Theadministration has been constantly making announcements, appealing people notto come out of their homes unnecessarily and adhere to the health guideline.

Meanwhile,district Magistrate Anantnag has ordered suspension of three employees of theDC Office for not complying with directions of the administration to checkspread of Covid-19 infection.

“Theemployees didn’t adhere to the directions issued by the district magistrate tobe adopted to check spread of the infection,” said another official.

Hesaid the district magistrate has instructed enquiry officer to presentchargesheet against the delinquent officials immediately as part of thedisciplinary action.

“Theemployees engaged in Covid-19 duties should comply with the directions. Anydereliction of duties shall be dealt as per the Disaster Management Act in place,”the district magistrate warned.
