COVID-19: DM declares six villages red zones in Bandipora, imposes strict restriction

Six more villages were declared red zones and their surrounding villages as buffer zones, in the Bandipora district, on Sunday, to prevent spread of corona virus after six persons from these villages were declared COVID-19 positive, in past two days.

The villagesinclude Konan, GundQaiser, Gund-Dachina, Hakbara, Madwan and Pethkote.

   

DistrictMagistrate, Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza, said that in view of six positivecases reported from these villages, it has become imperative to initiate restrictivemeasures under section 144 CrPC for prevention of danger to human life , healthand safety.

Under the orderissued by the District Magistrate, in this regard,  there should be nooutward or inward movement of any individual for any reason, whatsoever, in these villages. “However for any medical emergency, individuals can contact24*7 Control Room on 01957-225024 or 01957-225323,” order reads.

DM also directedthe law enforcing agencies to implement prohibitory orders in letter and spiritto save lives. He warned of strict action against the violators of the orderunder section 188 IPC and other relevant provisions of Epidemic Disease Act1897 and the Disaster Management Act 2005.

He appealed thepeople to cooperate with the administration and ensure strict adherence to theorder as the non compliance will constitute criminal offence and attract strictactions.

He said thedistrict administration has put in place a mechanism to ensure uninterruptedsupplies and deliveries of essential services to the people of the district attheir doorstep. He said essential commodities will be home-delivered toresidents as part of this mechanism.
