Covid-19 lockdown: J&K students stranded in Tehran demand evacuation

A group of over 30 students studying at the Tehran Medical University in Kish Island in Iran have demanded their evacuation in view of COVID-19 lockdown.

The students said they were awaiting screening for a month now and demanded their evacuation, saying the situation was turning worse with each passing day.

The students also released a video, in which they claimed the Indian Embassy was not giving any positive response for their evacuation. “We are 33 students here and are crying to get evacuated. But the Indian embassy is not giving any positive response,” a girl student in the video.

The student said the prevailing situation has left them depressed as they are not able to go out. “We are not able to do anything. Our parents back at home are worried for our safety and the conditions here are getting worse,” said another student.

They appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir administration for their intervention to evacuate them and allow them to travel home.
