Grand Mufti, Nisar-ul-Islam Thursday urged people to offer Friday prayers at their homes and follow health advisories in letter and spirit.
‘’Amid the prevailing situation and health concerns, we, in consultation with Islamic scholars, concluded that all people should offer Friday prayers at in their homes,’’ he said.
He said earlier people were urged to offer only Fardh prayers in Masjids. ‘’However, with reports of first death of Covid-19 and possibility of more people testing positive for the virus, it is in the interest of all of us to be in home quarantine,’’ he said.
He said some people want to go to Masjid as they used to, because of their sentiments and emotions.
‘’I want to make clear for them that these are testing times when we all have to make collective effort to contain the spread of virus, to break its chain of transmission. Once this phase passes, we will again resort to normal life and religious activities, InshahAllah,’’ the Mufti said.
He said human lives were precious and no Muslim should do any act which harms another individual. ‘’We should not be a source for transmission of infection. We urge people to follow health advisories, be at homes and stay safe,’’ he said.
