COVID19: Altaf Bukhari urges LG to fast track recruitment process of doctors, paramedics in J&K

Jammu Kashmir ApniParty (JKAP) president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday urged LieutenantGovernor, Girish Chandra Murmu to fast-track the recruitment process of doctorsand paramedics in Jammu and Kashmir, in view of coronavirus pandemic.

Bukhari said thatthe situation that arised due to coronavirus outbreak has overburdened themedical fraternity of J&K, and emergency recruitment of medicos is need ofthe hour.

   

“To fight thisdeadly disease, we need to have sound healthcare system and manpower. When thehealthcare system is already running on crunches, the safety of our people ison stake,” he said, in a statement.

Bukhari said thatUT administration needs to rise to the occasion and immediately hire technicalassistants, nurses, medical officers, theater assistants, X-ray and laboratorytechnicians and F/MPHWs on priority basis.

“We are in a warlike situation and we need to fight it together. But doctors and paramedics arefighting this disease on ground. We need to support them and provide them allthe necessary help and manpower,” JKAP president said.

Bukhari said thatshortage of doctors has badly affected healthcare and the fight againstCOVID19.

JKAP president saidwe too lack behind the World Health Organisation norm of doctor-patientratio.”Jammu and Kashmir has less doctor-patient ratio as compared to norms,which is an alarming sign. Under these circumstances, the administration needto act responsibly, and start recruitment of medical and para-medical staff inthe UT,” Bukhari said.  

Expressing concernover the coronavirus pandemic, Bukhari said in these testing times, people needto cooperate with administration and stay home. “Number of COVID19 patient areincreasing day by day, we all as a responsible citizen need to stay home andcooperate with the administration,” he said.

Bukhari said thathospitals are grappling with shortage of ventilators, mask and protective gearsamid coronavirus threat. “The hospitals are facing shortage of essentialmedical kits to detect coronavirus. Administration needs to take moreprovocative steps to make these things available in hospitals,” he said.

Bukhari alsoexpressed grief over the demise of an elderly person from Hyderpora Srinagar,who became the first victim of COVID19 in Kashmir.
