COVID19 lockdown | Police establish help-lines for senior citizens in J&K districts

J&K Police have established help-lines for elderly people of several districts in view of the COVID19 lockdown.

The help-lines have been established with an aim to providea prompt and dependable service to the elderly people especially during theperiod of lockdown and restrictions.

   

In Ramban, Police have started a helpline, 9906925595, forthe elderly people, with SMS, WhatsApp and calling facility.

“If any elderly person who is alone and helpless and needsmedicines ,doctors help, food and other daily use essential items, he cancontact on the given number or send a message through SMS or WhatsApp,” saidthe statement.

It said immediate action will be taken to provide succor tothe needy. “Selected team of volunteers is available with every police stationof the district who will be assisting police in this noble cause,” thestatement said.

In Reasi, elderly persons can contact on helpline –9596974434 for any help, the statement said.

In Ganderbal, keeping in view the lockdown and difficultiesbeing faced by elderly citizens, Police have dedicated a helpline (9622571163)for the senior citizens.

“Ganderbal Police can be contacted on this number ordetailed message can be sent on this WhatsApp number in case of any requirementof medicine, other daily requirements or facilitating requisite medicalcheckups,” said the statement.

It said police would also facilitate transportation tonearest health centre for senior citizens in case of need.

“This facility would be available to senior citizens onlyespecially those who live alone or who are staying away from children or havingno other male member in the family,” said the statement.

In Kishtwar, police have also dedicated a helpline,9906154100 to senior citizens through which police can be contacted or detailedmessage can be send on this WhatsApp number in case of requirement of medicine,other daily requirements or facilitating requisite medical checkups.

The statement said police would also facilitatetransportation of the senior citizens to nearest health centre in case of need.”This facility would be available to senior citizens only especially those wholive alone or who are staying away from children,” said the statement.

In Baramulla, police have also taken an initiative ofreaching out to senior citizens of the district by way of a helpline. DySP DARIrshad has been appointed as the nodal officer for the district. In case ofneed, the senior citizens can contact on 9596767704 (call and WhatsAapp)9596767717, 9596767768 (WhatsApp), 9419013834 (Inspector Aftab) and 01952237830.

“Elderly people who don’t have anyone around in thesetesting times can call Baramulla police on these numbers for any kind of help,so that they are not forced by the circumstances to move out of their houses insearch of essentials or medicine,” said the statement.
