Jammu and Kashmir government Friday constituted a state-level apex committee to oversee the implementation of National Green Tribunal’s (NGT’s) orders on solid waste management, plastic waste management, bio-medical waste management, clean air and river pollution.
As per an order, Chief Secretary has been appointed as thechairman of the apex committee.
Administrative Secretaries of Health and Medical Educationdepartment, Housing and Urban Development department, Transport department anddepartment of Forests, Ecology and Environment, and Divisional Commissioners ofJammu, Kashmir and Ladakh have been appointed as members of the committee.
Besides, Chairman, J&K State Pollution Control Board,had been appointed as the member secretary.
“The committee has also been authorized to co-opt anymember(s) or expert(s) and it shall meet at least once a month,” the orderstates.
