CUK launches awareness campaign against plastic pollution

Keeping in view the objectives of internship training for M.Ed Programme, students of School of Education, Central University of Kashmir (CUK), in collaboration with Oxford Public High School Check-I-Duderhama, Ganderbal, launched an awareness campaign against the use of plastic bags here on Wednesday, a CUK spokesman said in a statement.

He said that the theme for the campaign was ‘Say No ToPlastics.’

   

Assistant Prof, Department of Education, Reyaz Ahmad Wani,spoke about the objectives and importance of addressing the issues andchallenges related to plastic pollution.

Principal, Oxford School, Dr Tariq, spoke about the hazardsassociated with the continuous use of plastics.

Former Chief Education Officer, Bandipora, Dr Qayoom, alsoexpressed concern over the use of plastics, saying that plastic items areresponsible for environmental degradation.

The campaign took off from the premises of the school andcovered local villages. The students raised slogans like, ‘Plastic is terriblebecause it is durable’, Say No to plastics’ and Plastic ka use/istimaal bundkaro bund karo’.
