He said the CUK is currently scattered in various temporary government accommodation at Ganderbal which doesn’t provide an academic environment to the students.

“The CUK should restart construction works at allocated site i.e. Tulmulla. The construction works were expected to start in September 2018 but were delayed due to non-payment against earlier works executed by the contractors,” he said.

Vice chancellor CUK Prof Meraj ud-din Mir however said the process to start the constructions at permanent campus site has been started. “We have issued tenders for construction of the buildings. I am sure by March 2019, 80 percent departments of CUK will be shifted to Ganderbal,” he said.

The management was supposed to shift the varsity to Ganderbal and run it from the accommodations provided to them by the district administration.

The district administration Ganderbal has provided accommodation available in old ITI building, old building of district hospital, CMO building, old building of Physical Education Hostel to CUK till the campus of the University is completed.

The residents however said instead of wasting government money on constructing temporary classrooms at Chinar Bagh and other locations, the university ought to start work on permanent campus.
