CUK’s SLS organises workshop on ‘Juvenile justice system”

School of Legal Studies (SLS), Central University of Kashmir(CUK) organised a day long workshop on ‘Juvenile Justice System here on Tuesday.

In his presidential address Vice-chancellor, CUK, Prof Mehraj Ud Din Mir highlighted the importance of Legal Aid Clinic in a conflict situation. He said that in a scenario of violence, it is the duty of every segment of the society to protect children, who need care. 

   

Prof. Mir also highlighted the disconnect within families due to use of modern technology and fast lifestyle as major factors responsible for degradation of moral value system among new generation. 

Former Judge, Jammu and Kashmir high court, Justice Muzaffer Hussain Attar in his keynote speech said that it is very important topic to be discussed among various stakeholders like parents, teachers, civil society, police and lawyers who are involved in it directly or indirectly and share  responsibility towards caring and protection of Juveniles. 

Earlier, Head and Dean, School of Legal Studies (SLS), CUK, Dr. Sheikh Showkat Hussain in his welcome address, gave in-depth detail about theme of the workshop. He said that this is the culmination programme of dissemination programs conducted in five different colleges of the Valley. He also said that the main aim of this project is to discuss and provide justice, care and protection to the juveniles by way of assisting them through legal aid clinic.

Zaffer A Shah, sr advocate, J&K High Court in his valedictory speech appreciated the concept of this workshop and also said that such programmes must be given publicity for the benefit of masses.
