The medicos’ body, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) was restructured today with its members pledging to work for the people of the state besides raising voice against genuine public grievances.It also expelled three of its executive members for their involvement in ‘anti-organizational activities’.
In a general body meeting at Srinagar chaired by DAK president, Dr Nisar ul Hassan and attended by representatives of GMC, SKIMS, JVC and peripheral health, it was unanimously decided to expel three ‘tainted’ executive members for their involvement in ‘anti-organizational activities’, according to DAK spokesperson.
“DAK, apart from being custodian of medical profession, represents pain and sufferings of people. We are committed to health related issues but have an obligation to raise voice against public grievances as well," added he.
Dr Riyaz Ahmad Daga, nominated as spokesperson said that doctors will come on roads if DAK president was not reinstated immediately.
“The process of elections will be started after the unjustified and illegal suspension of Dr Nisar is revoked,” Dr Riyaz said.
Dr Suhail Naik (GMC), Dr Aijaz (Handwara), Dr Iqbal (Kupwara), Dr Javid and Dr Manzoor (Srinagar) were nominated as general secretary, vice president-1, vice president-2, treasurer-1 and treasurer-2 respectively.
“Other executive members inducted are Dr Aftab, Dr Adil and Dr Sartaj from GMC; Dr Farooq Andrabi and Dr Fayaz Ahmad Bhat of SKIMS; Dr Mir Waseem (JVC), Dr Parvez (Bandipora), Dr Amjad (Baramulla), Dr Saif-ul-Yamin (Pulwama), Dr Irshad Ahmad Parry (Budgam), Dr Khurshid Ahmad Bhat (Anantnag) and Dr Bilal (Kupwara),” the spokesperson said.
