Darbar move Civil secretariat closes in Sgr

The civil secretariat and other move offices observing five-day week closed here on Friday as part of bi-annual Durbar move.

As per the practice started 146 years ago by Dogra rulers, the offices including the civil secretariat function six months each at Srinagar during summers and at Jammu during winters.

An official told Greater Kashmir that the move offices observing five-day week closed at Srinagar today while those observing six-day week shall close tomorrow.

“The offices shall reopen in Jammu on November 5,” he said.

As already reported by this newspaper, Governer Satya Pal Malik has revived the practice of keeping ‘winter secretariat’ at Srinagar during winters.

The practice which was started during Governor’s rule in 90s was abolished by the previous PDP-BJP government in 2015.
