Daylong community awareness on de-addiction held

The programme supported by MLA Zadibal Abid Ansari, Drug De-addiction centre PCR, and district police Srinagar was held at Auqaf Market Alamgari Bazar, here.

A daylong community awareness programme on social issues –smoking, substance abuse, etc— was held under the leadership of Molvi Imran Reza Ansari, minister of sports and technical education and president J&K Shia association.

The programme supported by MLA Zadibal Abid Ansari, Drug De-addiction centre PCR, and district police Srinagar was held at Auqaf Market Alamgari Bazar, here. 

More than 200 members of the society participated in the interactive cum awareness programme along with team of professionals from drug de-addiction centre, SSP Srinagar, SDPO Zadibal, SHO Zadibal and some religious leaders, a statement here said.

During the programme, Dr Sayed Aqeel  Hussain, consultant psychiatrist welcomed the guests and gave a brief introduction about the role of the workshop. 

Dr Muzaffar who led the de-addiction team from PCR elaborated the need for de-addiction camps. 

The SSP Srinagar interacted with the audience and assured “action will be taken to address the grievances shared by the people,” a statement here said.

The Imam of the Imambada Zadibal Sheikh Zakir Baqri emphasised the need to follow the religious teaching in order to help society to deal with the problem of drug addiction and cigarettes smoking.
