Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kupwara Anshul Garg today convened an interactive meeting with municipal presidents, ward members of Handwara and Langate and discussed development and other issues related to both the towns.
ADC Handwara, Executive Engineer PDD, I&FC, PHE &R&B and other concerned officers were also present in the meeting, anofficial handout said.
The participants raised several core issues in the meetingand sought immediate attention of the Government. The raised issues included,solid waste management, improvement in road infrastructure and servicedelivery, enhancing staff and improvement in water and power supply etc.
On the occasion Deputy Commissioner while underlining therole of Municipal Committees in ensuring a proactive and participatoryadministration sought their cooperation in dealing with vital issues of publicimportance.
He directed the Executive Engineer R&B, Handwara toformulate a DPR for construction of Solid Waste Management site and improvement of children’s Park Handwara. He also directed XEN PDD to take steps for installation of street lights inthe town.
The DDC assured the participants that all the importantissues with special focus on maintaining accountable and transparentadministration at all levels will get the attention of district administration.
Later, Deputy Commissioner along with a team of officersincluding Exen I&FC visited the various areas of Handwara town to inspectthe spots where the drive for the axing of banned Russian trees is going on.
