District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama Dr Syed Abid Rashid today convened a meeting regarding the implementation of Jal Shakti Abhiyan, a water conservation campaign initiated by Union Ministry of Jal Shakti here at DC office Complex Pulwama.
The meeting was attended by Assistant CommissionerDevelopment, Chief education Officer, Principals of Degree colleges, ADPlanning, Exen PHE and Groundwater management, Chief Agriculture Officer,District Horticulture Officer and other senior officers of the concerneddepartment.
The DDC said that the aim of the administration is toprovide drinking water to every household on priority and in a sustainablemanner. He added that the aim of JSA should bring positive change in people forwater conservation.
The DDC also invited ideas, traditional knowledge,initiatives undertaken, success stories, and films made on water conservationfrom common citizens, celebrities and NGOs. He also invited the media toactively participate in the efforts.
The DDC stressed upon the line departments to adopt bestpractices in water conservation and rainwater harvest, renovation oftraditional and other water bodies, watershed development and intensiveafforestation.
The DDC directed CEO and principals of the degree collegesthat a large scale communication campaign should also be planned involving massmobilization of different groups including school students, college students,self-help groups PRI institutions, youth groups and others.
