DDC Anantnag reviews disaster preparedness in district

District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir today reviewed disaster preparedness in a meeting here at DC Office Anantnag.

The DDC directed formulating a department-wise DisasterManagement Plans and asked for feedback and suggestions about the alreadyprepared District Disaster Management Plan. He also reviewed the DisasterManagement preparedness with regard to Amarnath Yatra 2019.

   

It was given out that rescue teams of SDRF, Police, Homeguards and local volunteers should remain available en-route to the Holy Cave.The DDC also directed for establishing a Special Emergency Operations Centre atPahalgam during the Yatra period, an official handout said.

The DDC instructed officials to undertake mock drills ineducational and other institutions and involve all concerned departmentsincluding village and ward level committees. He stressed for community participation and greater involvement of localvolunteers in handling the disasters. He further directed for fitting DistrictEmergency Operations Centre, Sarnal with state of art equipment to ensure its24*7 functioning including V-SAT communication and generator.

The DDC also directed for preparing updated resourceinventory, full proof communication plan, disaster maps mentioning vulnerableareas, flood prone and low-lying areas, vital installation, rivers, Nallas andrelief centres.

The meeting was attended by ADC Anantnag, Joint DirectorPlanning, SE PWD, SE ME&RE, CEO PDA, all SDMs, CMO Anantnag and otherdistrict officers.
