District Development Commissioner, Budgam Syed Sehrish Asgar today chaired quarterly meeting of Regional Transport Authority/ District Road Safety Committee in Budgam.
On the occasion ARTO Budgam Mubashir Jan, member secretaryof the Committee presented profile and achievements of the department alongwith action taken report on earlier decisions.
The Committee discussed District Road Safety Action Plan2018-20, including mass awareness on road safety, safer roads and mobility,establishment of safe transport infrastructure and post crash response andsuggested measures for better road management in the district.
The DDC also reviewed sector wise activities of thecollaborating departments and fixed targets for each of them, including massawareness among drivers, transporters and school children; drivers’ education,training and medical checkup, providing of critical care ambulances and basiclife support devices, installation of road signs, marking blind spots andcurves, road repairs and road widening.
The DDC sought coordinated role among departments, NGOs andtransporters for making traffic hassle free and emphasized on curbing wrongparking in major towns, establishment of parking spaces, curbing roof topping,overloading and sexual harassment in public transport.
