DDC Budgam inspects work on Flood Spill Channel

District Development Commissioner Budgam Syed Sehrish Asgar Saturday inspected works on flood spill channel at Bemina.

Accompanied by SE Hydraulics and Ex En Flood ControlDivision Narbal and other officials, the DDC reviewed dredging, axing of trees,and evacuation of encroached land on both sides of the flood spill channel atShariefabad.

   

During the visit, it was informed that Rs 399 crore standssanctioned for works along the channel and work on the project has been startedat different spots on the flood channel.

The DDC was informed that 43000 trees were axed on bothsides of the flood spill channel, besides 758 kanals of encroached land wasalso retrieved.

The DDC was also apprised that presently excavators were onthe job, besides sufficient manpower has also been engaged to accelerate thework. It was given out that with completion of theproject, the flood channel will have carrying capacity of 35,000 cusecs ofwater at the entry point at Padshahi Bagh and can discharge 41,000 cusecs atthe exit point at Wullar.
