Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday visited the highest post in Daulat Beg Oldie sector and Chushul along the Indo-China border in eastern Ladakh and interacted with the troops, army’s Srinagar based spokesman said in a statement.
He said, “She arrived at Thoise this morning where she was briefed about the operational preparedness in the forward areas.”
“This was the first ever visit of the Defence Minister to DBO sector, one of the highest posts in Eastern Ladakh. She was accompanied by Lt Gen D Anbu, Army Commander Northern Command and Corps Commander of the Ladakh Corps,” he said.
The Defence Minister, according to the spokesman, complimented the troops for their “steadfastness and dedication” despite the harsh climate and terrain.
“Her visit has boosted the morale of the troops deployed at these extremely difficult snow covered locations in Ladakh,” he added. GKNN
