Delaying trial reflects ''inhuman'' policy: Hurriyat (M)

Delaying the trial of detainees for a long time reflects the inhuman policy adopted by the state towards them.

Hurriyat Conference (M) today expressed anguish over the condition of detainees in sub-jail Baramulla who are on a hunger strike against the delay in their trial, terming it (prisoners’ hunger strike) as justified.

“Delaying the trial of detainees for a long time reflects the inhuman policy adopted by the state towards them. These detainees are suffering because of prolonged absence of public prosecutor from the court,” a spokesman of Hurriyat (M) in a statement said, adding that “Kashmiri prisoners lodged outside Kashmir jails are facing worst treatment, difficulties and hostile atmosphere. Under the Supreme Court guidelines the accused should be logged in jail within the state but the same is not being done with the Kashmiri prisoners.”
