Demand for Karnah-Gurez tunnel: PUF sit-in enters day 2

The sit-in organised by People’s United Front (PUF) seeking tunnel for Karnah and Gurez, entered its second day today. People from different walks of life participated in the sit-in and expressed their solidarity with the noble cause.

Those who visited the sit-in spot included students,lawyers, traders, members of civil society and prominent citizens from Karnahand Gurez, a statement here said.

   

Thanking those who showed solidarity with the “noble cause”,AIP President Er Rasheed urged the state and union governments not tounderestimate the strength, power and worth of common man.

He said, “Government must listen to peaceful voices and ifsuch voices go unheard it will create serious negative ramifications.”

Er. Rasheed on the occasion said, “We are ready to joinhands with various political parties who really want sufferings of people ofKarnah, Gurez and other remote areas should end.”

He questioned the national political parties for “ignoringthe sufferings of people of border areas”

Meanwhile, Er Rasheed expressed deep shock over the loss ofthree precious lives in Tangdhar who were electrocuted “just due to negligenceof PDD.”

Seeking ex-gratia and other genuine benefits for thefamilies of victims he urged Governor Satpal Malik to initiate an immediate,sincere and time bound enquiry to fix responsibility for the death of threeinnocent civilians.
