DFP contests Mehbooba Mufti's claim

Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) today lashed out at the former chief minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti for ‘vainly trying to befool’ people by saying that she did not allow BJP led NDA government at the Centre to crackdown on Hurriyat leaders during her tenure.

“If Mehbooba Mufti didn’t allow the Bharatiya Janata Party to crackdown on the Hurriyat leaders during her government, then who arrested Shabir Shah along with many others in July 2017 and lodged them at Tihar jail, Delhi,” a DFP spokesman said in a statement.

“Mehbooba is only trying to befool people of Kashmir by using pro-freedom stance. However, the people know the mindset of such anti-Kashmir politicians who lure people by all sorts of lies,” the statement stated.

It said, “It was Mehbooba’s regime when Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Shabir Shah and NIA arrested many others including women and it was again during Mehbooba’s tenure when hundreds of people were put behind bars. She blinded hundreds of our youth.

It was Mehbooba whose remark of “milk and toffee” was in fact a license to the government forces to kill unarmed youth.”

“Mehbooba intensified the crackdown on Hurriyat during her government and now when she is desperate for votes and trying to befool the people,” the statement said.
