Dr K J Ramesh, Director General, Indian Meteorological Department, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday, an official spokesman said.
He said that Dr Ramesh briefed Governor about the presentweather forecasting set up in the State and its usefulness for issuing timelyweather advisories to people and pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra during the durationof the Yatra.
The Governor highlighted the crucial importance of timelyand advance weather forecasts for managing the movement of Yatris, which ishighly dependent on the weather conditions.
