Under the state government’s ‘Back to Village Initiative’, Director Horticulture Ajaz Ahmad Bhat Thursday visited Gurez villages in Bandipora district and interacted with the farmers and orchardists there.
The director, according to an official spokesperson, assuredthe farmers of all technical support as well as financial support by thehorticulture department under various developmental programmes and schemes. Theofficials of the department were instructed to maintain a close liaison withthe growers and orchardists so that they get the timely knowhow about benefitsof the schemes and programmes to develop horticulture as per the moderntechniques for enhancing their income.
Bhat was accompanied by Chief Horticulture officer and otherfield officers of district Bandipora. During the course of visit, DirectorHorticulture also inaugurated play field at Khandyal, Bandipora under Back toVillage Programme. He also distributed free Settop Boxes to the BPL communityin the said area.
Later Director Horticulture inspected Degree College, Indoorstadium and Girls Hostel, Gurez under construction and officers were directedto ensure completion of these works in time bound period.
