Don’t believe exit polls, UPA will have majority: Congress

Expressing confidence to win the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee President GA Mir Tuesday said that exit polls should not be believed and that the “UPA would have the majority” in the Lok Sabha polls.

“Don’t believe these exit polls. Wait for the results on May23. The UPA would have the majority and all these exit polls will be provedwrong,” Mir told reporters on side lines of a function.

   

Mir, who contested from the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat againstformer state Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of People’s Democratic Party andJustice (Retired) Hasnain Masoodi of the National Conference, said: “Whateverthey (exit polls) might say, the Congress will win the Anantnag seat.”

Anantnag is the only Lok Sabha constituency in the countrywhere polling was held in three phases due to the challenging law and ordersituation.

Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian districts constitutethe voting segments of the Anantnag constituency.

Meanwhile, Mir along with senior JKPCC leaders rememberedformer Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi on his 28th death anniversary and paidfloral tributes to departed leader.

Mir described Rajiv Gandhi as one of the tallest leaders ofthe country under whose leadership the nation touched the new heights inrespect of development, education, science and technology etc.
