Dozens detained in Pulwama, Shopian villages

,Over five dozen persons were picked up by the security forces from poll bound districts of Pulwama and Shopian in south Kashmir during Wednesday night, sources said.

Locals said the forces during night raids picked up 38persons from Tahab and Chewakalan villages of Pulwama.

   

A police official at Shopiansaid the forces raided Nadigam, Vehil, DK Pora and Narwah villages of thedistrict and detained 24 persons.

Most of the persons picked up were lodged at police stationShopian, the official said.

He, however, did not divulge the reason behind thesedetentions.

More than three dozen youth have been detained by the forcesfor last one week during various night raids in the twin south Kashmirdistricts.

Boththe districts are scheduled to go to polls on May 6 during the last leg of thethree-phased elections for the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.
