Drivers plying on Srinagar-Leh highway asked to follow traffic rules

The traffic authorities have asked the drivers who operate on Srinagar-Leh highway to follow the traffic rules in letter and spirit to ensure smooth and safe journey on the highway.

The directions have also been passed on to traffic officialsto ensure proper traffic management on Srinagar-Leh highway by SP Traffic(rural) Muzafar Ahmed Shah during his visit to Zojila.

   

An official said that to review the traffic management onSrinagar-Leh highway and road conditions from Sonamarg to Drass, the SPTraffic, rural, along with Officer in Command (OIC) 122 RCC of Beacon, CaptainShubham Sood made a visit to the area.

Sources said the SP Traffic was informed that many driversare not following traffic rules and advisories. He was further informed thatthe maintenance and repair work carried out by the Beacon authorities was goingon the Zojila pass.

Captain Shubham Sood of BRO told Greater Kashmir that theyhave already intimated the civil and the police administrations to restrictmovement of traffic for few hours during the work time. “However we usually seetrucks plying on the highway which could prove dangerous for them and the mencarrying out maintenance work on the highway,” he said.

SP Traffic said that condition of the road is not up to markat Zojila and Beacon is carrying maintenance work for better road connectivity.

He said the drivers should cooperate with them.
