Education zones in southern Pulwama district are withoutpermanent heads for last several months.
According to a source, almost all education zones in Pulwamadistrict are without Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) for last more than sixmonths.
He said that though the higher secondary school principalsand the deputy education planning officers have been given the charge of thesezones in addition to their own duties, the authorities have failed to postpermanent ZEOs there.
In Pulwama district out of total 8 ZEOs, 7 are withoutpermanent post. Except Pulwama zone all seven zones including Tral, Lurgam,Pampore, Kakapora, Tahab, Shadimarg, Awantipora are without permanent posts.
The incharge ZEOs who otherwise are principals at variouseducational institutions complained that they are unable to perform doubleduties smoothly.
“Besides being principal when you are given additionalcharge, it always impacts your main duty,” said a school principal who wishednot to be named. As per the data given out during a review meeting held bydirector of school education Kashmir last month, 31 zones of the State are withoutZEOs. The important posts like chief education officers are also lying vacantin many districts.
Officials at directorate of school education Kashmir saidthe matter will be resolved in coming days.
