Employees’ bodies, deptts start donating to J&K Relief Fund to fight corona pandemic

The gazetted and non-gazetted employees of Horticulture department, Kashmir Sunday announced to contribute two days and one-day salary respectively to J&K Government’s Relief Fund. 

Director Horticulture, Ajaz Ahmad said all officers atdivisional and district level discussed the matter through WattsApp.

   

“We are contributing towards the welfare fund created bygovernment as a symbolic gesture,” said Ahmad.

He said the DDOs have been directed to deduct two-day salaryof the gazetted employees and one day-salary of non-gazetted employees for themonth of March.

Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) appealed thegovernment employees to donate one-day salary to the Fund.

An EJAC member said if all 4.5 lakh government employeesdonate to the Fund it would sum up to Rs 60 crore.

The EJAC President Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam said they have madethe appeal on the humanitarian grounds.

“EJAC is a part and parcel of the society. We want thereshould be no financial hindrance in countering the pandemic of coronavirus. Wealso want to do our bit,” he said.

Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) said it hasdecided to donate one-day salary towards the Fund.

“The decision was unanimously taken by the core group of theAssociation,” said EJCC Chairman Ajaz Ahmad Khan.

Khan said the Committee was also submitting a writtenrepresentation in this regard before the competent authority so that the fundscould be deducted by the DDOs concerned from their salaries.

Meanwhile, Non-Gazetted Employees Welfare Association(NGEWA) of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), here have alsodecided to donate one-day salary toi the Fund, said KNO, a local news gatheringagency. 

The Association comprises more than 5000 employees. It saidthe employees have conveyed their decision to the Director SKIMS.

“We have decided to donate our one-day salary for thetreatment of COVID19 patients for the sake of humanity,” said NGEWA PresidentIshtiyaq Ahmed Beig.

All J&K Revenue Officers Association has also decided tocontribute one-day salary to the Funds, said its President Shiekh Tariq Ahmad.
