Senior-most engineers have been made to suffer while the juniors got promotions by virtue of reservation rules and have been posted at higher ranks without approval of departmental promotion committee

Senior engineers of R&B department Sunday appealed to the Governor NN Vohra to intervene into the proposed promotions to be made in the department by the administrative secretariat.

According to a statement issued here by the senior engineers of R&B, there are apprehensions that the promotion to the vacant posts of Superintending Engineers is being considered by the R&B department without “considering merit and seniority.”

“Senior-most engineers have been made to suffer while the juniors got promotions by virtue of reservation rules and have been posted at higher ranks without approval of departmental promotion committee (DPC),” the statement said.

“The persons holding charge of Assistant Engineers, who were not regularized even as Assistant Executive Engineers vide order No. 080 PW(R&B) of 2014 dated 20-08-2014, have been given charge of Superintending Engineers, thereby ignoring all the service rules,” it further said.

“The authorities have not bothered to implement the orders of High Court regarding quashing of illegal promotions,” the engineers said, appealing Governor to intervene into the issue so that promotions take place on the basis of merit only.
