Ensure all amenities to people on Muharram: J&K parties

Several political parties on Tuesday impressed upon the administration to ensure all facilities to people during the upcoming Muharram.

In a joint statement, National Conference MPs, Muhammad Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masoodi urged the administration to ensure all basic civic amenities to people in view of the auspicious month of Muharram.

   

They urged the divisional administration to direct the district commissioners to converge their efforts to ensure smooth conduct of Muharram, especially during procession days, so that people do not face any inconvenience on account of paucity of facilities and civic amenities.

The MPs also urged the administration to pass necessary directions to Srinagar Municipal Corporation and other Municipal Committees to ensure that streetlights in and around religious places were made fully functional. The party’s central zone President, Ali Muhammad Dar and district Presidents also urged the administration to ensure smooth conduct of Muharram.

Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) leader, Muhammad Ashraf Mir urged the administration to ensure necessary arrangements for smooth celebration of the Muharram.

In a statement, Mir said the administration should make preparations and ensure all basic amenities in and around Imambaras. “JKAP calls upon the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take first hand appraisal of arrangements put in place by the administration for smooth observance of this holy month,” he demanded.

Mir said besides providing an uninterrupted water and power supply during the auspicious days, the government must ensure fumigation of all Imambaras and provide free of cost face masks and hand sanitizers to the devotees.

Chairman Peoples Democratic Front Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen asked the district administration Budgam to ensure foolproof arrangements for smooth observance of ensuing Muharram.

In a statement, Yaseen asked the administration to make all the required arrangements to facilitate the people especially devotees to observe Muharram. He asked the authorities to ensure availability of uninterrupted water and power supply in and around various Imambaras.
