Er Rasheed says India has lost moral battle in Kashmir, calls for dialogue with Pakistan

Independent legislator Er Rasheed on Monday said that India has lost moral battle in Kashmir as people here were extending full support to the militants.

Rasheed made the remarks during a sit-in at the Residency road in Srinagar to protest the killing of four civilians in Shopian yesterday.

Rasheed, who was joined by dozens of his supporters, raised pro-plebiscite slogans during the protest.

He said that people were extending full support to the militants during gunfights. “India has lost the moral battle in Kashmir,” said Rasheed.

He also called for a dialogue with Pakistan to solve the Kashmir dispute. “Director general of police cannot do anything (good) till there is a political will. A common Kashmiri is being killed so only the Kashmiris know the pain. The day any beloved of any mainstream politician is killed he would know the pain of being victim of bullets and pellets,” he said.

Rasheed said that the only resolution to Kashmir issue is holding a referendum. “We demand plebiscite in both parts of Kashmir. Plebiscite is our right and we shall have it,” he said.
