Peoples Conference while welcoming the decision to constitute Srinagar & Jammu Metropolitan Region Development Authority has expressed its displeasure at the exclusion of Kupwara district in the Srinagar Metropolitan Region.
“While the authorities have included four districts fromsouth Kashmir and two districts from central Kashmir in the SrinagarMetropolitan Region Authority, they have only included district Baramulla fromnorth Kashmir,” the PC spokesman Adnan Ashraf Mir said in a statement.
“District Kupwara has continuously been ignored andneglected on political and development front by successive governments of NC& PDP. It would be grave injustice to the people of district Kupwara to beagain left out of projects and schemes for growth, development andinfrastructure creation in the region”, he added.
He said that Peoples Conference leadership has taken up thegenuine demand with higher-ups in the administration. “The party leadership hasspoken with the concerned authorities and urged them to approve and includedistrict Kupwara in the Srinagar Metropolitan Region Development Authority foroverall development in the region”, he added.
