J&K People’s Movement Provincial President Faroz Wani has expressed his dismay over excluding Kupwara from Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MRDA).
In a statement, Wani has termed exclusion of Kupwara fromthe Srinagar Metropolitan Region as most unfortunate which has severely hurtsentiments of the local populace. He has urged the Governor to include Kupwarain the list of MRDA. SAC on 3rd July has approved the areas to be included inthe Srinagar Metropolitan Region, which includes all districts of Kashmirdivision, except Kupwara.Feroz Wani said, “Kulgam, Qazigund areas havebeen included which are as much far away as Kupwara. Kupwara had two ministersin the previous govt but it was a shame on their part that they couldn’t gettheir district included in the MRDA.” Feroz Wani has requested PrincipalSectary Housing and Urban Development, Dheeraj Gupta to reconsider the matterand add Kupwara into the list of MRDA to bring development in this Kandidistrict.
