Expedite creation of posts, physiotherapy council: JKSPA urges Government

J&K State Physiotherapists Association (JKSPA) has urged the government to expedite the process for creation of posts in the field and set up State Physiotherapy Council for regulating the key medical sector in the state.

“During our meeting with the state authorities we were toldthat a proposal for creation of the posts in physiotherapy has been forwardedto directors of health services in Jammu and Kashmir. This is a welcome stepbut we urge the government to expedite the process,” said an official statementissued by the association.

   

It said a group of representatives of JKSPA led by PresidentDr Suhail Ahmad Mir had taken up the matter with then health minister in 2017,requesting for creating of new physiotherapy posts in Jammu and Kashmir. Then,the statement, said, the matter was consistently taken up with the stategovernment authorities. 

“We are really greatful to Vijay Kumar an others for theirspeedy work and positive response towards our genuine demands,” said thestatement.  

It said need of the hour was to regulate the profession andcreate new posts in the field. “The council would be responsible in broad termsin setting the standard of conduct and proficiency of physiotherapyprofessionals to promote it within Jammu and Kashmir,” said the statement.

It said the Council will set, regulate and publish andupdate the consistent policies and procedures as and when required. “Thecouncil will also ensure that each registered professional must continue tomeet the standards that are mandatory in the field,” the statement said.
