Expedite probe into Kathua rape, murder: APSCC to Govt

All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee has asked politicians to rise above political ideologies and impress upon the state government to carry out a fair probe into the rape and murder of an eight year old girl Asifa at Hiranagar in Kathua district.

In a statement, APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said the incident should be condemned unequivocally by the politicians and no politics whatsoever should be involved in the same.

He said the Crime Branch should be allowed to carry out the probe in a professional manner so that the culprits are brought to the book.

“The rape and murder of eight years girl should have shaken our conscience, but that has not happened. There are some people who are playing politics over the issue. This is an issue of humanity and every sane person should be disturbed by the scheme of things that led to this unfortunate incident. Therefore, my appeal to all would be to leave politics on this sensitive issue,” said Raina.

He said that it is unfortunate that despite having a woman chief minister at the helm in the state there is an inordinate delay in giving justice to the girl and the family. He demanded that the case should be taken up on fast track basis so that there is no further delay in delivering justice.

“Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti should pull up the investigating agency in this regard and ensure that probe in the incident is completed at the earliest. Stern action should be taken against the beasts as the same would send a strong message to the society as a whole. Sooner it is done better it would be. Nobody should be allowed to shield the culprits and the CM has an important role in the whole process,” said Raina.
