Extend postal voting facility to Kashmiri Muslims also: Renzushah urges ECI

Chairman Kashmir Society International and Kashmir Development (KSI&KD), Khawaja Farooq Renzushah, Friday urged the Election Commission of India to extend the postal voting facility, which is available to Kashmiri Pandits, to Kashmiri Muslims as well.

In an e-mail, Renzushah wrote to the ECI, “Keeping in viewthe tense situation in the Valley, it is necessary to include Kashmir Muslimsin postal voting, in order to ensure that they are able to cast their vote fromtheir respective homes rather than polling booths.”

   

While appreciating the ECI and CEO J&K Shailendra Kumar,the Renzushah said, “They (ECI and CEO J&K) are serious about creatingavenues and taking steps to ensure that majority of the population casts votein the Valley.”

“Just like Kashmiri Pandits, if they extend the facility toKashmiri Muslims as well, voting percentages will surely improve,” he said.
